His other commendations for his aid to his country included the Purple Heart, American Defense aid Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Metal with 3 bronze aid stars and the World War Ii Victory Medal. Lt. Jack Kennedy was discharged from the Navy early 1945 shortly before the end of the war.

Kennedy's youth, good looks and his prosperous Naval work during the war was a viable asset in his ambition to fulfill his father's dreams of a political life for his son. His political rise was impressive and complete with John F Kennedy becoming the 35th President of the United States in 1960.
